The Townsend’s Solitaire had been frequenting the windbreak for weeks. Eastern red cedar provided berries for food, the young cottonwood was the favored high calling perch, and the tangles of native plum were a safe haven It was in the plum that I watched him that evening. The buds were just beginning to swell and I was aware of a sudden warm breeze displacing the cold air.
